Brest

The first project for a modern tramway system in the Breton city of Brest was rejected in a referendum in 1990. A second project was launched in 2004, the start of construction was in late 2009 and the inauguration in summer 2012. The rolling stock is a joint order with the city of Dijon. For the future, a second line is envisaged, possibly as a Tram-Train using new tramway infrastructure and SNCF mainline tracks to the eastern hinterland.
